Members may participate in a variety of activities as a volunteer to its committees, boards, advisory groups, and task forces. In addition the staff helps to support our member community.

Provides opportunities for continuing service to those who have served the organization as an officer, director, or member of the Board of Advisors.

Researches and responds to payroll questions posed by members through The Payroll Community.


Board of Advisors

Liaisons to the affiliated local chapters located in one of nine regions within the U.S. The Advisors work with the chapters to bring forth ideas for future organization endeavors


Board of Contributing Writers

Writes articles pertinent to payroll operations, compliance, or management for publication in PAYTECH and contributes ideas for article topics.


Board of Directors

Oversees the property and activities of the organization.


Board of Directors - Officers

The Board of Directors - Non Voting Officers consists of the President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer.


Certification Item Development Task Force

Writes questions for the Fundamental Payroll Certification and Certified Payroll Professional exams to be reviewed by the FPC and CPP Committees.


Certification Board

Reviews, edits, and constructs exam items for the Fundamental Payroll Certification and Certified Payroll Professional exams.


Certification Review Panel

Provides a final for review of a candidate's score on the Certified Payroll Professional or Fundamental Payroll Certification Exam. Appointed by the Executive Director.


CHAMPS Committee

Local chapter members volunteer for this committee to mentor chapters on specific chapter-management issues.


Chapter Recognition Committee

Selects the recipients of the Chapter of the Year and Gavel Awards. Members are appointed by the President-Elect.


Education Advisory Committee

Reviews the content of our educational courses and identifies the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of payroll professionals at the various stages of their careers.


Education Grant Committee

Reviews applications for and selects the recipients of the Education Grant Awards. Members are appointed by the President-Elect.


Finance and Audit Committee

Reviews the organization's financial position, has financial reports prepared, and makes projections for upcoming years. Members are appointed by the Executive Director.


Global Payroll Editorial Advisory Board

Writes articles pertinent to global payroll operations, compliance, or management for publication in Global Payroll magazine and contributes ideas for article topics.


Government Relations Task Force (GRTF)

Works with the legislative and executive branches to help payroll understand their employers’ legal obligations and advocate for more effective laws, regulations, and policies.


GRTF Child Support

Participants work to standardize child support enforcement processes and procedures, collaborate with the federal Office of Child Support Enforcement and state child support agencies, improve state electronic reporting and payment systems, and discuss any other child support issue that impacts payroll management.


GRTF Electronic Payments

Participants discuss all payroll-related issues in electronic payments, ranging from fintech (ACH, FedNow) to payroll cards, with the goal of keeping members and payroll professionals informed, and to educate government and private-sector decision-makers on these technologies in the payroll space.


GRTF Federal Issues

The Federal Issues Subcommittee focuses on federal-level concerns of importance to payroll professionals, including employment taxes, wage and hour requirements, agency capabilities and infrastructure, and proposed laws and regulations. Separate Government Relations Task Force subcommittees consider payroll cards, child support, and garnishments.


GRTF Garnishments

Participants discuss wage garnishment orders by public and private creditors, including involuntary student loans, tax levies, and more, and impacts on payroll management. Action is focused on improving processes and procedures by creating consistency and enhancing electronic communication.


GRTF State and Local Topics

Participants discuss ways to assist state and local governments develop solutions that accomplish their tax, wage and hour, and other goals in a manner efficiently achievable by the payroll community.


National Speakers Bureau

Nationally known experts on various payroll topics who teach our seminars and courses and represent the organization on payroll-related topics.


Nominating and Elections Committee

Recruits, screens and recommends candidates for participation in the orderly and democratic election of the President-Elect and Board of Directors.


Representative to the IRS Advisory Council

Advises the Commissioner on issues having a substantive effect on federal tax administration by commenting on current programs and suggesting operational improvements.


Representative to the IRS ETAAC

The Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC) was established by Congress through the IRS Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998 to provide continuing public input into the development and implementation of the IRS organizational strategy for electronic tax administration.


Representative to the IRS Security Summit

Represents members on matters related to combatting identity theft refund fraud to protect the nation's taxpayers.


Shared Services Task Force

Members investigate and communicate best practices in the Shared Services arena.


Social Networking Committee

Promotes the use of social networking tools by members and evaluates and recommends new social networking opportunities.


Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force

Serves members by investigating and communicating innovative business practices. Volunteer members participate on one or more subcommittee.


SPLTF Agricultural

Agricultural subcommittee’s mission is to create and recommend payroll best practices unique to payroll operations for agriculture-related organizations. Additionally, we will facilitate the exchange of ideas, information, and resolutions to common payroll challenges specific to agricultural industries.

Best Practices Subcommittee’s goal is to gather, discuss, and share payroll best practices based on feedback and involvement of the subcommittee members.
